Amigo Releases all-in-one Scooter Car
Our friendly scooter makers, Amigo Mobility International are releasing a new model called the Amkar. The Amkar is a battery powered mini-car that allows drivers to roll in to the driver’s seat without leaving their scooter.
The Amkar can serve as a vehicle on its own, or can be modded to serve as a docking station for Amigo scooter drivers. It’s a little larger than a golf cart, and can serve the purpose of a more reliable form of local transport while giving users more range in mobility without having to get in to a regular car.
The Amkar’s demonstration model does not have side doors or windows, but according to the President of Amigo, Allan R. Thieme, the options are available to compare the Amkar to a typical car.
The Amkar:
- Can reach a speed of 25 MPH
- Runs 30 miles before needing a recharge.
- Cost $10,200 for all users.
- Adjusted for Amigo drivers, it runs an additional $6,500.
- Wheels cannot handle major city streets and highways.
MLive.com, a Michigan-based online news portal published an article in which they cited the way the Amkar works with the Amigo scooters.
“Produced by Global Electric Motorcars, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG, Amkar is undergirded with an electric ramp that slides from beneath the passenger side of the vehicle. The Amigo driver then maneuvers up the ramp in reverse, locks the scooter into a docking system on the floor and swivels in the seat to face the steering wheel.”
No images of the Amkar have been released by Amigo. As soon as we find some, we’ll show you!
This year, Amigo Mobility International also released The Shabbat Amigo. Read about it on Fair Mobility.
